Hello,

Has anyone taken an initiative towards hosting a kannada music hour (or something else similar) on the new Indian AM radio station(AM1170)? I have a friend who hosts a show there and I am somewhat familiar with how one can get this going. I can find out more if there is enough interest. I am sure we have talent in the community to be able to get this going. Your thoughts?

KKNC executive committee is actively working with KLOK producers to have more kannada programs from KKNC. We will let you all know about the plan once things gets finalized. Please let me know if u are interested to voluneer in this effort.

Thanks for replying. It appears that the psymphony show is multilingual and they play kannada music as part of the show. Is there any chance you will provide an ongoing kannada music hour at a better time any time in the future? Also, it is not obvious from the 1170 website schedule that this program exists and plays kannada music, do you know if this can be changed?

I was unaware that this program existed, but it looks like its just a half hour slot. I will contact the person and see how this show is hosted. I thought there wasn't a kannada program because I hadn't seem this one listed(and designated as a kannada program) on the KLOK program schedule online.I will post on the forum once I hear from them.

I recently heard one on 1170 AM with "Vishnuvardhan" and "C Ashwath" special. Not sure if it was a one time thing.

But, it would be great to have a recurring Kannada radio show, I am sure I would listen to it!

Thanks for your comment. I am told the way it works is you lease time per hour on the radio. And it is upto you to do what you want in that hour. And if you get sponsors, the hour is paid for by advertisers. My friend said a lot of time slots have been leased out already, but there is a chance to be able to sublease. All we need is an RJ, and music and sponsors. It seems like it would be pretty easy to put together. Hopefully, the people who hosted the shows you mentioned will read this and comment on it.
